Proudly positioned in the most desired areas of Chania, the apartment is only few minutes from where the heart of the city beats and its graphic old town.

Chalepa is famous as the scene of the most important political events in 19th century Crete.

It was the site of the palace of the High Commissioner, i.e. the governor of semi-autonomous Crete during the time of the Cretan State.

Sat in a four floor building, this lovely first-floor apartment measures 55m².

Entering the main entrance there is a bright and airy open plan, including the air-conditioned living room/dining room, a kitchen with beautiful white cupboards and balcony doors that lead to a covered terrace, your own private relax zone where you can enjoy memorable moments with friends and family!

The apartment comprises one bedroom that shares the covered balcony with the open plan area and a bathroom with bathtub.

Only 2km from Chania center, it gives you easy access to all services and amenities, within a very short walk, including bars, restaurants, supermarkets, a variety of shops, and much more.

A bus stop is a few steps away and there is a bus route every 15 minutes to downtown.

Also 800 meters from Koum kapi beach, it takes only a few minutes to reach the water during the hot summer days while you can also find restaurants with delicious traditional food and gourmet, and coffee shops as well to enjoy the sun accompanied by a refreshing drink. And last but not least it is only 13km away from the airport, for any little or big escape you long for.

Location:

Chalepa is one of the most beautiful and historic districts of Chania.

Today Chalepa, with its imposing mansions and luxury villas, is considered the aristocratic neighbourhood of Chania.

Chalepa is famous as the scene of the most important political events in 19th-century Crete.

It was the site of the palace of the High Commissioner, i.e. the governor of semi-autonomous Crete during the time of the Cretan State. Here, too, were located the consulates of the Great Powers during the same period.

Chalepa was also the chosen place of residence of Eleftherios Venizelos, an important political figure who played a decisive role as Prime Minister of Greece during a critical time for the Greek state, in the early 20th century.

The family house was built by Eleftherios father, Kyriakos Venizelos, in 1877.

Chalepa was considered a distant suburb, without even a surfaced road to Chania.

However, the climate was healthier and Chalepa was home to the better class of “citizens of the capital”, i.e. of Chania, formerly the capital of Crete. And of course Chalepa was where the General Consulates of the Great Powers were, the “great school of diplomacy” which trained Eleftherios Venizelos.

On Dagli Street in Chalepa is the church of Agia Magdalini (St Mary Magdalene), built in the Russian style.

The church was built by Prince George of Greece in 1901-1903, when he was High Commissioner of Crete, with funds he brought from Russia.

The church stands out due to its architectural style and Russian dome.
